Bruxism is a condition in which you grind, gnash or clench your teeth. Sleep bruxism is considered a sleep-related movement disorder. People who clench or grind their teeth during sleep are more likely to have other sleep disorders, such as snoring and sleep apnea. Bruxism can be frequent and severe enough to lead to jaw disorders, headaches, damaged teeth and other problems.

An occlusal splint treats malocclusion, which is a misalignment or incorrect relation between the teeth of the two dental arches when they approach each other as the jaws close. Correction of malocclusion may reduce risk of tooth decay and help relieve excessive pressure on the temporomandibular joint.

Mandibular Splint

(Sleep Apnea)

A mandibular splint or mandibular advancement splint is a device worn in the mouth that is used to treat obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. The splint treats snoring and sleep apnea by moving the lower jaw forward slightly, which tightens the soft tissue and muscles of the upper airway to prevent obstruction during sleep. The tightening created by the device also prevents the tissues of the upper airway from vibrating as air passes over them.

Invisalign is an alternative to wire braces that uses transparent, incremental aligners to adjust teeth. The Invisalign treatment process involves taking a mold of the patient's teeth that is scanned in order to create a computerized model.
